Vigilant ("we", "us", "the Service") operates the website vigilantstatus.com and provides hosted status pages and uptime monitoring. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
2. Data We Collect
Account data: Email address and authentication credentials when you sign up.
Monitoring data: URLs you configure for monitoring, response times, HTTP status codes, and uptime history.
Status page data: Status page names, descriptions, component names, incident content, and subscriber email addresses.
Usage data: Page views, feature usage, and basic analytics collected via Google Analytics to improve the Service.
Payment data: Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To send uptime alerts and incident notifications
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To send important service updates (security issues, terms changes)
- To understand usage patterns and improve performance
We do not sell your data. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
4. Data Sharing
We share data only with:
- Stripe for payment processing
- Supabase for database hosting and authentication
- Resend for transactional email delivery
- Vercel for application hosting
- Google Analytics for anonymized usage statistics
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
5. Data Retention
Monitoring data is retained according to your plan (7 days for Free, 90 days for Pro). Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, all associated data is removed within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You can:
- Export your monitoring data and incident history at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Update or correct your account information
- Unsubscribe from any non-essential communications
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Google Analytics uses cookies for anonymized usage tracking. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. All data is hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is 100% secure.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
